Beginning violin
(for students ages 7 to 99)

About Janet

Janet Switzer has been playing the violin and writing music for over 30 years.

She has performed in various orchestras, chamber ensembles and with folk artists and bluegrass groups. She studied classical technique with Joanne Ausmus- Baker in Orange County before moving to Northern California to raise her family. She continues to perform her original compositions and classical pieces in select ensembles.

Teaching Style:
Janet places an emphasis on enjoying the experience of music in one’s heart. She adjusts her curriculum to enhance each student’s natural strengths.

As an accomplished songwriter and improviser Janet makes sure that during each lesson, time is devoted to playing together spontaneously. This helps to develop the student’s musical ear and creativity.
