Our Philosophy

The Petaluma School of Music School has been established with the purpose of bringing the joy of music to all age groups, young and old alike. Studying and performing music transcends generations and does not have a mandatory retirement age. On the opposite end of the spectrum, some parents participate in programs that focus on playing music for their young child to contribute to the healthy musical development of their childhood.  There are many music programs established specifically for children from birth through pre-school.

One of the fundamental joys of studying music is the sense of accomplishment that one achieves. This can only come from hard work, dedication and practice. Nobody can do it for you. We believe that the young people who study music, whether with us or elsewhere, are fortunate to have this feeling of self-worth that comes with perseverance and a job well done.

Music brings enjoyment to the musicians and to those around them. It is a life-long learning opportunity that is exciting every step of the way. From being able to play your very first song to joining a community ensemble that sparks your interest, each unique experience is yours to treasure.
